The despatch, unlocked

Every weekend, we send the member’s despatch—our end-of-week edition with key developments, features, interviews, books, music, and, yes, the weather. The name is a nod to the despatch boxes—the red leather boxes containing critical documents, delivered weekly to the British sovereign and government ministers.
Several items use a toggle format, so you choose what to open when. This week, the toggle function is temporarily disabled—Ghost is working on a fix.
So we thought we’d do something with the moment: reformat this week’s edition and open it to all readers.
For free subscribers, a chance to see what the weekend despatch looks like from the inside. For members, an opportunity to share.
This week’s edition: The U.S. Supreme Court strikes down Trump’s tariffs. Artemis II gets a launch date. Online gambling’s new ecosystem. Silicon Valley’s fight with the European Union. Hugo Drochon on elites and democracy. And what free jazz is doing on a major record label.

Available through February 28.
